So, you hopped on the web again. However, as you combed through web pages, your excitement started to fade. You were either bombarded with vague statements like ‘it depends,” or ballpark industry figures that added no actionable value. By the end, you just ended up … more confused.
Well, good news or bad news; you’re not the only one!
In our 15 years of experience as an explainer video production studio, this has been the story of almost every client we’ve worked with. Therefore, I thought of addressing this problem for you once and for all by providing exact figures that we typically charge our clients.
By the end of this article, you’ll be fully aware of what pricing to expect for each animation style, what actually drives it, and how you can do effective budgeting to reduce costs.
Let’s jump straight in!

The Short Answer: 2026 Prices by Styles
Different animation styles require different kinds of resources, skills, and efforts. Think of a polished video as a tip of the iceberg. What you see after production is just the tip. What actually goes into making this video stays beneath the surface, and those are the things that drive the pricing.
I’ll get to this in detail later in the article. For now, just keep that in mind as you check the prices below:
| Animation Style | Minimum Price (per 90-sec) | Maximum Price (per 90-sec) | Who’s It For |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2D, 2.5D & Isometric | $5,000 | $10,000 | SaaS, health and pharma, education and e-learning platforms. |
| Motion Graphics | $10,000 | $15,000 | Tech, SaaS, fintech, Agencies, Crypto. |
| 3D Animation | $10,000 | $25,000 | Hardware and consumer electronics, automotive companies, architecture and real estate, and medical device manufacturers. |
| Whiteboard Animation | $4,000 | $5,000 | Educational platforms, corporate trainers, consultants and coaches. |
| Enterprise Videos | $15,000 | $25,000 | Large companies that need videos for internal and external communication. |
The above-given price ranges are based on what we typically charge our clients. Whether your budget will fall on the upper or lower limit will depend entirely on the project’s nature and the effort put in.
Sounds vague? Let’s distill this topic its absolute fundamentals by starting with the first major question:
What Actually Drives the Price?
Simple and short answer? It’s time. There you have it. Time is the single most important thing that decides whether your video will cost one thousand or ten thousand dollars. And it should come as no surprise; a typical animation video can take up to 4-12 weeks with full-time dedication. The final timeline depends on:
Animation Style
The animation style itself is the biggest cost driver. The reason is simple. Different animation styles require a different amount of time, skill, and resources, which translates into their respective costs. That’s why a 3D movie like Avatar takes years of time and millions of dollars to produce, and cheap 2D South Park episodes come every other Wednesday. The scale of production is just different from style to style.
Video Length
Here’s how the logic flows: more length means more scenes, more scenes means more animations, more animation means added time, and added time means more costs. We usually recommend our clients keep their explainers between the 60 and 90 second mark, as those usually perform best while staying within budget. If they wish to go beyond, extra charges keep adding up without any fruitful yield.
Video Complexity
While longer videos are almost always going to cost more, sometimes shorter ones can cost higher. Videos covering intricate topics may require more visual elements per second for better understanding. This means more custom illustrations, diagrams, and typography, and hence, more charges. This mostly happens when we’re dealing with fintech, or tech brands in general. Since there’s often no “physicality” to the product, every visual element in the video is a figment of our own imagination, which can be complex.
Revision Rounds
As we prepare your quote, it only covers a set number of revisions. When you go beyond that, it will keep adding up to the costs. For example, if your total project quote adds up to $10,000 and includes 2 or 4 revisions, each additional revision round will add up additional $300-$500 to the original price. More often than not, we ensure to incorporate our client’s feedback in the originally quoted revision rounds.
Rushed Deadlines
Animation agencies like ours work at a standard pace to ensure each project is completed with maximum finesse and attention to detail. Rushed deadlines, in this case, put forth a unique challenge. We have to complete the project with the same quality expectations, often in a quarter of the standard timeline. This pressures us to put extra teams on the project and work overtime, which ultimately adds up to the costs.
Voiceover, Music, and Sound Design
Your project cost is also highly influenced by the voiceover, music, and sound design quality. Generally speaking, a typical decent-quality voiceover talent charges around $100-$600 for a 60-second script. If you go for a more premium artist with broadcast experience, this cost can easily increase to $1000+.
The same goes for music. You can either go for stock libraries like Epidemic Sound for a few dollars, or, invest in a custom score, which costs anywhere from $1000 to $5000.
Here’s the good news though! We also offer AI services for both of these tasks. Now that AI is slowly filling the quality gap, we usually recommend it to our tight-budget clients to save some extra costs. The final option, of course, comes down to your choice.
Why Do Enterprise Explainer Videos Cost More?
Explainer video production for enterprises works very differently compared to creating a one-off marketing video project. In enterprise projects, we have to deal with tens of approvals. This too while keeping the brand consistency alive, as we deal with tens of rigorous revisions along the way.
Additionally, each video we create for an enterprise must also deal with a multi-layered system of compliance. This, along with procurement requirements, multiple rounds of stakeholders approval, and multi-channel content optimization takes a lot of time, effort, and resources.
All of the abovementioned factors often stretch things beyond the original production schedule. The high price point in this case is designed to reflect all extra hard work that goes into creating a high quality enterprise video. It’s not because the video is any different, it’s the process that it involves.
What’s Included in Our Project Pricing?
Our quotes are all inclusive and straightforward, and fully customized. We arrange a detailed consultation session with you where you lay out your goals, vision, and expectations with your video. From there on, we create a fully custom, all-inclusive, and fixed quote. It lays out complete costs for each production stage, from initial storyboarding, to animation, voiceover, and audio designing.

This upfront approach ensures maximum transparency, saving you from any surprise or overhead charges amidst the project. As soon as you approve the quote, we jump directly into production; still involving you at every stage to ensure every element of the video reflects your brand and vision.
Once completed, you will receive the final video in your preferred format, fully optimized for your preferred platform, within the agreed timeline. Towards the end, we will also transfer you all the original project files and video rights. You can use the video whenever or however you would like without any restrictions.
Which Animation is Best for Whom?
Making an excellent explainer video is not about going for the most premium animation style. It’s about going for the right style. Knowing animation styles that suit your needs and justifies your budget ensures you get the best ROI.
It is also worth mentioning that according to reports, the ROI is very promising for videos (animated videos included). Wyzowl’s 2026 State of Video Marketing report finds that 82% of marketers say video gives them a good ROI.
That said, let’s have a look at some common animation styles often demanded by our clients and their respective applications. And as we do, see which one resonates best with you the best:
2D and 2.5D Animation
2D and 2.5D animation is one of our most in-demand animation styles for brand explainer videos. They are quick, cheap, and easier to produce while delivering exceptional results to businesses. With a creative approach and good execution, these styles offer just about the same physical and emotional depth as any high-quality 3D. We often highly recommend this style to clients that belong to the SaaS or tech industry.
Here’s what you can expect with a well-executed 2D explainer from Kasra Design’s team:
3D Animation
3D animation lies more on the premium end, and rightly so. Unlike the 2D animation that’s primarily lifted by emotional and aesthetic appeal, 3D animation is detail-focused. We only recommend it to clients who value exceptionally realistic details, or where high-end visuals are a genuine need. Simply using 3D just because its premium won’t make any realistic difference in ROI. We usually recommend this format to clients that belong to highly technical industries like automotives, architecture, real estate, and medicine.
Here’s a sneak peek into how 3D animated visuals look compared to 2D:
Motion Graphics and Whiteboard Animation
Motion graphics are mostly preferred to give a visual shape to abstract ideas, representing themes through iconography and kinetic typography. More often than not, it’s a combination of both with 2D and 2.5D elements fitted in between.
Why the Cheapest Option Costs More!
Before I answer this, here’s a simple question: would you prefer a video that costs high upfront but gives excellent ROI? Or would you prefer a video that costs 10 times less but has no effective benefits and may damage your brand image permanently?
We all know the answer: it’s the first one, and rightly so!
One well-made, expensive video by a reputable agency will serve your branding for years without paying twice. On the other hand, cheap videos hardly give you any results. It’s an endless money pit that keeps draining your budget without conclusive benefits in sight…until you’ve no budget left.
For brands that have really tight budgets, we often recommend going with a simple, high-quality 2D animation. Even if basic, it has an industry-hardened artist’s touch who knows how to capture the audience’s pulse. This makes these videos professional enough to work and sensible enough in budget.
Does Your Location Change the Price?
No. Our pricing (and most studios) is consistent for everyone, everywhere. In fact, this is what sets Kasra Design apart. Unlike studios that adjust their cost as per the local markets, we keep our pricing consistent throughout.
So whether your business is based in the US, UK, Singapore, or any other place, you get the standard, high production quality without any price tweaks.
At Kasra Design, the only thing that will change the number is the project scope, animation style and revisions requirements.
AI-Assisted Videos: A Genuine Option or Just Slop?
You’ll generally find two opinions when it comes to AI content. One describes it as pure slop while the other favors it as the ultimate replacement for human-made animated videos. To be honest, both opinions are extreme and, to an extent, wrong. As with any other technology, AI can be a genuinely reliable option when used correctly.
A good example of that is AI-assisted commercials. They come at half the price compared to fully custom-made animation, and have essentially nearly the same high quality. There are certain AI-made elements in the video, but even those are seamlessly integrated between human-made animations to look natural.
An example is what we call a hybrid AI video. In the following video, we used actual 3D animation renders to guide Seedance 2.0 in creating a realistic, highly detailed version of our 3D rendering. This resulted in much more control over the outcome, excellent VFX quality, and a lower cost for the client.
Everything made with AI is still reviewed and refined under the supervision of a competent art director. Here, it’s still important to mention that our AI-assisted services are just there to help brands that need high production speed and volume at a tighter budget. It is not meant to replace detail-oriented, brand-defining 3D, 2D, or 2.5D animations.
Cost Optimization Strategies to Get the Most Out of Your Budget
After quoting hundreds of clients and delivering hundreds of projects over the span of 15 years, we’ve recognized a bunch of very simple practices that save our clients from wasting extra money.
Those especially include:
Preparing a detailed brief: Even with over a decade of experience, we can never create a magical video unless we know what you want, how you want it, and who we’re talking to. Consequently, it leads to a lot of back and forth in revisions, which add up as additional costs. If we get specifics about video tone, style, and audience upfront, you’ll get a perfect product without additional revisions down the line.
Not Changing Direction Mid-Production: Pivots amidst production is one of the worst things you can do from a financial standpoint. Making huge changes to the video direction or animation style mid-production means scrapping large elements of the project and starting afresh. Moral of the story? Always decide what you want in your video from the get-go. It will save you from expensive mistakes later.
Trust the Professionals: Once you hand over your video project to an animation agency, you must trust the creative directors. As we say, just tell us the “what” part, we’ll handle the “how” part by ourselves according to the budget limitations. Unnecessary interference in professional workflows can cause unneeded hindrances. This may result in stretched timelines, which ultimately results in unneeded budget spikes.
Don’t Overspend: As you invest in video production, keep the expected ROI in mind. Not being clear about financial expectations from the particular video can result in underspending or overspending. Both can be equally damaging for your business from a marketing and financial standpoint.
– Questions You May Have –
Do you Charge Per Minute or Per Project?
We charge per project depending on its style, complexity, and length.
What’s the Cheapest Option?
Whiteboard animation is the cheapest option. However, we would recommend going for 2D or 2.5D instead to make an impact.
How Long Does it Take to Make a Video?
4-12 weeks is the standard time to make an animated video. Your video may take any duration between the aforementioned depending on the project scale. At Kasra Design, we make a detailed production report for each of our videos that outlines time spent on each production stage for maximum transparency.
Can You Work on a Smaller Budget?
Yes, we can work on a smaller budget. Usually, our approach in such cases mostly revolves around ensuring maximum project efficiency. We choose the correct style and length that perfectly fits your budget, sometimes using AI-assisted production methods to cut down on extra costs. You can simply tell us your budget, and we’ll give you a realistic estimate of what to expect.
What If I Need Several Videos?
Actually, it’s pretty common. Most of our clients approach us to work on a series of videos rather than one-offs. Still, if you need several videos, it’d be worth telling us upfront to avoid any scheduling conflicts later down the line.
