Make complex software easier to understand

Our Animated SaaS Videos help people understand what your software can do, how it functions and why they should care.

Whether you are looking for an explainer video to help describe your product for use on your website home page or demo of your product, we will develop your project based upon who is going to see the animation and the message that you want to convey about your application.

We have produced over 2,000 videos since 2011 for both startup companies and large enterprise companies worldwide.

“SaaS videos are popular for a reason. They help turn potential customers into confident buyers and loyal users.”

PayPro’s SaaS 3D Video

PayPro Global is a Merchant Of Record (MOR) for many large global software firms. PayPro was interested in creating a visual identity that would differ from the typical category explainer for payment processing solutions.

To meet these requirements we utilized a fully three-dimensional approach that allowed us to create movement and scale to represent how payments flow through the infrastructure for software companies. There are also additional software and SaaS-related projects included in our portfolio.

Nansen AI – SaaS Animated Video

Nansen is a well-known blockchain analytics firm, powered by 500M+ labeled addresses. Nansen wanted to present its complex product offering in a way that made it seem accessible but did not reduce complexity.

To achieve this we used a combination of 2.5D animation with 3D visuals. Playing around with size, motion, and other geometrical visual elements, we created a flow that turned Nansen’s goals and functions into an animated sequence.

We completed this project in approximately half the time typically required to complete a similar project (four weeks instead of six weeks).

Betterment’s SaaS 2D Animated Video

Betterment was looking at explaining decentralized finance (DeFi) and cryptocurrency investments to an everyday investor. It had over $40 billion in customer managed funds and was one of the largest financial advisory platforms based in the U.S.

As part of this we developed a 2D animated series of short films based on a metaphoric representation of how networks of different currencies interact through visual representations such as stars or constellations. The client would later commission us to develop explainers covering other products and services within their brand.

“The biggest thing that distinguishes Kasra Design is the quality of their animation. The level of detail that they had when we moved from the brief to the animation was great. They have a very good sense of bringing our story together.”

What We Make for SaaS Companies

SaaS video content can fulfill different roles throughout the customer’s journey. For example, we make

1. SaaS product videos for people seeing the product for the first time,

2. Demo videos (product & features) to showcase how the product works to potential customers

3. Onboarding videos for newly signed customers

4. Videos for large enterprise sale efforts and investor presentation purposes. In both cases a sophisticated product needs to be easily understood.

How We Bring Software to Life

Concept-led animation and interface-led animation are two different approaches to explaining your SaaS.

The majority of our SaaS clients have a mix of both in their explainer. Using concept-led animation will allow us greater flexibility in illustrating a product idea, process or outcome and does not rely solely on showing the user the product’s interface.

Using interface-led animation allows the product to be part of the story. Menus can be condensed down to only include necessary items and important actions can be highlighted.

A third type of animation is hybrid animation which takes advantage of both. Hybrid animation is by far the most commonly used style in SaaS explainer video production.

How a Project Runs

Most SaaS projects will go through five different stages of production: scripting, storyboarding, designing, animating and then post-production.

Each of these stages have their own defined goals. Our script provides the message and action to take. Our storyboard takes that script and breaks it down into individual scenes. In the design phase, we define how everything should look with regards to color, typeface, character designs, UI arrangements and other elements of the user experience. Once our design is finalized, we animate those static frames into motion. Finally, we add voice-over, sound effects, music and master the video in post-production.

Where Your SaaS Video Can Work

It is possible to use your SaaS Video across multiple places. Your primary production could be utilized on your Home Page, Product/Feature Pages, Social Media, pre-roll ads, App Store listing, Sales Decks, Email Marketing, Conference Screens, Help-Centre Content & In-Product Prompts. Many choices indeed!

The best approach is to decide on where you will display the video first. Where you are going to show the video affects how we frame it, what speed (pace) it should run at, whether you want an HD / SD Aspect Ratio, the length of time that the viewer sees it, and the amount of information displayed on screen.

Questions Software Teams Ask
What is a SaaS explainer video?

A short animated video that helps someone understand what a software product does, why it matters and what makes it useful. Animation is especially effective for SaaS because it can show interfaces, workflows, data and processes that are difficult or impossible to capture with a camera.

How long should a SaaS explainer video be?

For a marketing explainer, around 60 to 90 seconds is a common range. Product demos and onboarding videos can be longer because the viewer already has more context and is usually looking for specific information. The right length follows the job the video needs to do.

How long does production take?

A typical 90-second 2D or 2.5D explainer takes around four to six weeks. More involved 3D projects can take six to twelve weeks depending on scope. Shorter schedules are possible when the project allows work to run in parallel.

Can you show our actual product interface?

Yes. We can recreate and animate your interface so it feels like the real product while keeping the experience clean and easy to follow. The UI can also be combined with conceptual animation when the story needs more than a screen-based demonstration.

Do you work with early-stage startups?

Of course! We work with both startups and enterprise teams. For products that are still in development, a concept-led or stylised interface approach can make it possible to produce a strong launch video without depending on a finished product build.

Who owns the video once it is finished?

You do. The final delivery includes the original project files and full usage rights, so you can continue using the work and make future adaptations when needed.

Can you produce a series of SaaS videos?

Yes. We created many SaaS video series for our clients such as Betterment, Miros, Petronas, VISA, Wilhelmsen, IATA, Superform and more.

Do you work with software companies outside Asia?

Absolutely. We work with clients across the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe. Pricing is based on the project rather than the client location.
